Meet The Team

Dr. Kara Thomas
Dr. Kara Thomas grew up in the South Shore of Massachusetts before attending George Washington University in Washington, D.C. She graduated with a B.S. in Chemistry and minored in Arabic. Dr. Thomas received the prestigious SMART Fellowship through the Department of Defense and attended the University of California, Irvine while interning at both Sandia National Laboratory and the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center during the summers. She successfully defended her Ph.D. dissertation in 2020 and began her career working for the AFNWC in New Mexico. Kara has been tutoring students for 7 years and enjoys the opportunity to help mentor and train the next generations of scientists, engineers, mathematicians, and educators.

Dr. Nicholas Wozniak
Dr. Nicholas Wozniak attended Hope College in Holland, Michigan where he participated in the Physics Club and played 4 years of football. He graduated with a B.S. in Chemistry and a B.S. in Physics. After graduating Nick went to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and achieved his Ph.D. in Radiochemistry in 2017, completing the final 3 years at Los Alamos National Laboratory. In 2022, he obtained a M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University, while working full time at LANL. Dr. Wozniak is passionate about science and helping future scientists and engineers foster a love for science and a curiosity about the world.

Andrew Lloyd - Chemistry / Math
Andrew Lloyd graduated from Northern Arizona University in May of 2022 with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and a minor in math. Currently, he works at Los Alamos National Laboratory. He finds enjoyment in golfing, snowboarding, and playing video games. Andrew maintained a 4.0 in every chemistry and math classes during his bachelor’s degree. Throughout college, he enjoyed helping students get comfortable working through challenging concepts. When he graduated, tutoring students in STEM quickly became something he was interested in. He has been part of Atomic Aptitude since February 2023. He loves helping with chemistry and math!
